Unwired Mental Health Project

The UnWIRED Mental Health Project will test the use of wearable e-health devices to maximise outcomes in young people with severe mental illness.

Severe mental illness is a significant burden to the community and devastating for an individual. Relapse and readmission set off by stress creates a pattern which results in lost opportunity and significant disability. The availability of personal e-health devices that can continuously monitor people and communicate physiological data such as stress and sleep quality both to the individual and also their caring mental health team, creates the opportunity to proactively intervene early in the process of relapse and help develop an awareness of stress for the individual.

The Balnaves Foundation is supporting this 3 year project from 2018 – 2021 with Mental Health Western Sydney Local Health District

As of August of 2020 unWIRED has been able to make large advances in the project and continue to work on the project with The Balnaves Foundation’s support.
