Adelaide Festival

The Adelaide Festival has delighted audiences since 1960 with an outstanding mix of internationally acclaimed theatre productions, an eclectic array of world-class musicians, breath-taking dance pieces, renowned writers and striking visual arts displays. Enjoyed amid warm March days and starry nights, Adelaide Festival’s celebration of creative excellence makes for an event of truly epic proportions.

Since 2020 the Foundation has supported the Open House program, a key component of Adelaide Festival’s commitment to ensuring as many people as possible have access to the great arts events that it presents. Through various initiatives, the Festival provides opportunities for community members and individuals who would like to experience the Festival but have financial barriers.

There are two key components in the Open House program; Tix for Next to Nix which offers a selection of Festival events for just $5 each – these tickets are available for those with a current Pension or Health Care Card; and Pay What You Can where Health Care Card, Pension Card or full-time student card holders can access tickets to a selection of shows one hour prior to performances.

The Foundation’s previous support for the Adelaide Festival includes:

  • The development of a new festival venue, The Riverside Palais – 2017
  • The Riverside Palais and the production of Thyestes – 2018
  • Gravity & Other Myths’ production of Out of Chaos and the Pay What You Can access program – 2019
