Hamish Balnaves
Hamish is the son of Neil and Diane. Hamish graduated from Sydney University with a degree in Economics (Social Science) and later did a diploma of Education at UNSW. Hamish worked as a teacher for ten years in Sydney and overseas. In 2009 he began work at the family office and is the CEO of The Balnaves Foundation.
Amelia Hart
Amelia is the Head of Grant Making and Impact at The Balnaves Foundation, where she works to translate the Foundation's philanthropic vision into meaningful and lasting impact. She joined the Foundation in 2021, bringing broad experience across fundraising, partnerships, and impact-driven work in the not-for-profit sector.
Her path into philanthropy began in the corporate sector at Fossil Group, where volunteering with the Fossil Foundation ignited her passion for social change and led her to transition into the not-for-profit sector in 2016.
Prior to The Balnaves Foundation, Amelia was Head of Partnerships – Fundraising at youth mental health charity batyr, and before that, National Partnerships Manager at children's cancer charity Redkite, where her teams delivered a number of record-breaking fundraising initiatives.
A skilled fundraiser and relationship manager, Amelia brings nearly a decade of sector experience to her work leading philanthropic strategy and grant-making, driven by a commitment to creating lasting change for the next generation.
Rachel Verity
Rachel is a CPA and Chartered Secretary with over 25 years of finance experience. She has extensive experience in multi-national organisations and more recently the not-for-profit sector. Rachel is a long-standing supporter of The Balnaves Foundation, having been the Finance Manager from 2018 – 2019 and is excited to once again be a member of the team.
Rachel holds a B. Business (Accounting/Finance and Economics) (UTS), a Graduate Diploma from the Governance Institute of Australia (AGIA/ACG), is a graduate from the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD) and is a member of the Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA).
Rachel is a passionate volunteer as a Surf Lifesaver at her local beach and enjoys travelling both overseas and exploring Australia with her family.
